Designed by Zaha Hadid and inaugurated in 2010, MAXXI – the National Museum of 21st Century Arts in Rome – is regarded as one of the defining cultural buildings of its time. Rather than following a conventional museum layout, the building unfolds as a network of flowing galleries, intersecting paths and interconnected spaces, creating a constantly changing spatial experience. Its sweeping curves and fluid geometry generate a remarkable sense of movement, making the architecture appear almost weightless and in continuous motion. Exposed concrete and carefully controlled natural light further emphasise the building’s sculptural qualities.
