Portlantis, designed by MVRDV, opened in 2025 as a visitor and exhibition centre in the Port of Rotterdam, located on the artificial peninsula of Maasvlakte 2. Conceived as a platform for understanding the port, it functions as an interface between the public and one of the world’s largest logistics hubs.
The permanent exhibition focuses on the port as a dynamic system, addressing global trade, supply chains, and the port’s role in everyday life. A central theme is its ongoing transformation, particularly the shift toward renewable energy and more sustainable industrial processes.
By combining architecture and content, Portlantis presents the port not just as infrastructure, but as a complex, evolving network with global impact.
